How to Redeem Smart Rewards Points

This post is about how to redeem Smart rewards points online or via text. Smart rewards points can be used to a lot of services offered by Smart telecommunications in the Philippines. This is a reward for being Smart as the slogan says clearly for loyalty too. When you have loaded load to your mobile, or purchased prepaid cards, surf the internet, or whenever you were charged of your account, you earn Smart reward points. Recently, Smart announced too that you can earn 5000 reward points on your birthday. How cool right? You can then use and redeem your points which you can use to avail of freebies like free movie ticket, or 100 movie discount for tickets, free popcorn, drinks and lots more. You can also have discounts to selected shopping boutiques nationwide.

Whilst there are lots of ways to use your points, I use mine to rebate my Smartbro bills. I always get P50 bill rebate every month for that. Instead of paying P999, I only pay 949. Though my points could be consumed to lots of more things like shopping and loading All text 10, All Text 20, loading prepaid or postpaid and some more unlimited goodies, I choose to automatically rebate my points in my internet broadband.

How to redeem smart rewards online for Smartbro bill rebate? Simple log in to your Smart account. And look over the subscriber’s page. By the way, you have to register first to Smart Webconnect in case you don’t have an account yet. Follow these steps so you can get use of your rewards. You can also do Smart rewards points inquiry anytime like billing, current balance, points, freebies, promos and many more.

  1. Register an account in Smart via WebConnect.
  2. Log in and click Inquiries and choose Smart Rewards. You can see your rewards points, Redeem free items, get discounts, enter promo code or set up your notification settings as shown on the photo above.
  3. Choose Redeem Free Items. Tick the free item of your choice and click Redeem. (see photo below)
  4. You’re done.

How to redeem Smart rewards using text? You must be using Smart Buddy sim and Smart Gold for this feature to work for you. Simply text REWARDS and send to 9800. It’s free by the way.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Price Philippines

So how much is the price of Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the Philippines? The release of the Galaxy Nexus in the USA last December is the release date of iphone 4s in thePhilippines. And this March 2012, looks like the first Android phone running in the latest Ice Cream Sandwich will come in the Philippine market. Yup yup Google and Samsung Galaxy Nexus will be available in the country sooner than expected. I am sure Smart and Globe are very much excited about this than everyone.

Yeah why not, because the two giant companies will again offering awesome and tempting options for their Galaxy Nexus postpaid and prepaid plans. You ask me if I got any idea how much would Globe offer the Galaxy Nexus in postpaid? I guess it’s pretty much the same if not a thousand more pricey than the iphone 4s.

The price of Samsung Galaxy Nexus in the USA is $649 and it was already decreased by the introductory selling price of 700 plus. In the Philippines, Samsung Galaxy Nexus is expected to be around P 29,999. Whilst the Samsung Galaxy Note in the Philippines which is currently hot in the techy mobile world here was introduced at P33,000, it’s now available for P28,999 in some stores. If you ask me what would I choose between Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus, of course I’d choose the phone. Hehe The phone that’s not at the same time a tablet if you get me. I want to try how Google and Samsung worked to produce this amazing phone.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus features and specs will let you experience all-Google and the luxury of having Google+. I love its mobile hangout feature which lets a person to chat face to face with his 9 friends. How cool! Plus the Face Unlock feature. I am amazed by the excellent graphics the screen has which is perfect for the apps and games in the Adroid mobile system.

If you’re a fan of the awesome services of Google like me, I am sure you’ll like this Android Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone.

ASEAN Common Visa: Single Visa Requirement for Countries

ASEAN countries, we all know are enjoying the pleasure of visa free or visa exemption. Being a member of the Association of South East Asian Nations, we no longer have to make an appointment to secure a visa before visiting a fellow ASEAN country. The tourism board of ASEAN has started to establish a common visa or single visa for non ASEAN countries since last year and this visa-free policy is expected to be completed this year 2012.

The ASEAN common visa aims to have a single visa for countries listed in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. It means that the visa holder can travel all the countries of ASEAN using one single visa. Having the ASEAN single visa is just like the famous Schengen visa which was established for European countries.

What are the benefits of the ASEAN single visa? Non ASEAN countries will have the benefits of saving time and money from securing visa prior to their visits to any ASEAN country. You can avoid the hassles, and expenses you would meet in obtaining individual visas for each country. It can attract more tourists to visit as much as countries under the asean. People around the world can see the beautiful places in Southeast Asia just using one single visa. It can also increase employment, jobs and businesses all over the counties of ASEAN team.

Apparently, with the ASEAN single visa, the list of countries you can travel is below. Updated membersof the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are:

Brunei Darussalam
Cambodia
Indonesia
Lao People’s Democratic Republic
Malaysia
Myanmar
Philippines
Singapore
Thailand
Vietnam

While the establishment of the ASEAN single visa is still in the oven, isn’t it amazing to visit all the counties listed above using just one visa? I hope the agreement will be polished this year 2012 as expected. As to what purpose of travel, tourist, business, or study, the common visa may apply for tour or both or more. While the ministries are carefully baking the cake, I think this policy is so amazing. Asean visa exemption requirement will boom the travel economy in the Southeast Asia. Let’s keep our fingers crossed so the rules will be settled and completed soon.

How much is iphone 4S in the Philippines?

If you want to know how much is the new iphone 4S in the Philippines right now, 2012, you are in the right page. As you noticed when you visit the official Apple website and searched for the price of iphone 4S, it was supposed to be there. But Apple has gave phone carrier companies the pleasure to entertain interested customers and buyers for that so they link us instead according to phone carriers like Globe Telecom, Smart, and Sun Cellular.

Sales of the latest iphone baby have increased in the country especially the peak of holidays before 2012 smiled to us. The price of iphone 4s in the Philippines has shocked me after the release date not gonna lie. I remember it’s about 60 grand and at that time it’s not yet released in the market here and I was like, “definitely not gonna buy 4S…” but since the holidays came, I could say it’s not that bad. I mean it can be considered as affordable since the features and parts of the Apple gadget won’t embarrass anyone. For less four grand or something, you can enjoy the amazing features like the super fast Dual Core A5 Chip, 8 megapixel camera and 1080p High definition video recording, the famous and soon to be your bestfriend, Siri, iOS 5, and many more stunning specs and resolutions.

iphone 4s price in the Philippines

Selling price is updated right now January 10, 2012. Data are both for iphone 4S black and white your choice.

iphone 4S 16GB         P 33,200
iphone 4S 32GB         P 38,300
iphone 4S 64GB         P 43,200

The selling price nationwide from malls and Mac resellers like iStudio and PowerMac Centers are the same and close to the available prices for prepaid for mobile phone carriers like Smart. If you prefer postpaid, then you might want to see the page where I listed all the iphone 4s Postpaid and Prepaid Plans for Globe. If you’re practical like me, I’d rather buy the unit alone without a contract. I have a wifi at home anyway. Check out Smart plans for iphone 4s, too.

Happy Lemon Franchise Philippines

Since Happy Lemon has four branches already in the country, it’s so obvious people here are loving the taste of the most popular milk tea café today. After having a cup or two of my favorite Cocoa Milk Tea and Puff Cream, my friend asked me, how to franchise Happy Lemon in the Philippines? You think how much would it cost? You see it’s not only a yummy refreshment, a lot of people are throwing numbers already at thinking to open a franchise of HL.

It dawned on me that my friend was serious because after that, we pulled over at another famous Bubble Tea café in Greenhills. They serve the Taiwan version of their bubble teas. I love the tea and coffee intermix to the one I ordered. I noticed that majority of their customers were Chinese and students. All of them were chilling there with their laptops and tablets on. I thought, this has never even been a Starbucks scene. People chill at coffee shops and they have their smoking area. This one is pure refreshing. Milk tea business targets the youth and the teens that’s what I’m so sure of. Happy Lemon franchise fee, hmmm I need a large cup of their bestseller rock salt and cheese for that one. That’s a one million question. You have to treat me for the answer. (laughs)

Back to my friend, he was from La Salle, too. And he was so madly interested to open a Happy Lemon branch in Pampanga. And he was thinking to start a kiosk type of it serving in front of a university. He’s quite a businessman himself. And I love the idea of making a partnership.

Anywayz, Happy Lemon’s birth was from Hong Kong. Chris Tiu, basketball heartthrob, Fil-Chinese young businessman here got the idea when he and his friends were searching about a milk tea business in the country since this type of business doesn’t have too much competitors. Apparently, the group went abroad, all around Asia to find the best milk tea. Until they tasted Happy Lemon in Hong Kong. They knew it was the one.

From an article from Manila Bulletin, Chris Tiu and his friends admitted it wasn’t that easy when Happy Lemon franchise was granted to them. Tiu’s group was the pioneer of Happy Lemon in the Philippines. Just like any other franchise business, opening your first branch is a tough job. But then, hard work will pay off eventually. Since their first branch was successful, the opening of HL in the Philippines on 2010 followed more branches. Today, 2011, Happy Lemon has already four branches. And it seems that Chris Tiu’s group has the exclusive franchise for now. And Happy Lemon branches are only in Manila for now. If you are interested to franchise Happy Lemon and open a branch somewhere your place, you can know the details, franchise fees, Happy Lemon menu and deals at the official website of Happy Lemon. If you know Mandarin, it will be a big plus for you to negotiate and all.

Bicol Express PNR Fare and Schedules

After I have published about the PNR Station Schedules and Fares for 2012, I am now here, as promised, to blog about the famous Bicol Express, fares and schedules. It’s not about the famous spicy dish, bicol express, it’s about the awesome voyage of PNR train going to Bicol.

PNR and its famous fleet, the Bicol Express route, is active again since the successful test last June 2011. It is now serving passengers to its maiden voyage with new trains donated by Japan. Though the trains are not totally brand new, they are good enough to give comfort and convenient ride home. Bicol express train stations and complete list of terminals were discussed on my article highlighted on the first paragraph if you wanna take a peek.

To have a bit of experience of the new sleeper train, I have uploaded some Bicol express train photos and pictures for you to see. A friend of mine couldn’t wait enough to ride the new train and experience Bicol. She went with her family, saw the perfect cone volcano peak,  Mt. Mayon and visited Naga City…then Camarines Sur. I admit, it’s a perfect travel adventure for backpackers and travel addicts who prefer cheaper tours and fantastic journey.  Inside the sleeper train, this is what it’s gonna look like and it’s gonna be…
family sleeper PNR
PNR New Sleeper Train

Looks comfy and nice enough to sleep in for the long train-ride from Manila to Bicol. The only thing that lacks is a wifi enabled zone. I wish PNR will make it possible soon as it’s kind nakaka-inip…Thank God if you’re using internet plans on your phone, you can surf the web and Facebook anytime. lol I suggest you bring your extra food and water too so you won’t be hungry to wait for the next stopover. And oh, a cologne to spray your cabin.

This is suitable for groups of travelers or families. Your friends could like a Bicol Express trip. You just have to plan it well and prepare your budget. Know the train stations, schedules and plan your itinerary. Know your stops, departure and arrival.

Reclining seats…

Feels like just a bus and a plane. I wish there are no Volde’s creatures here or else I’ll bring my wand. Ok, I kid there.  I’m still not so over with Harry Potter, I’m sorry. The reclining seats are okayish and thank goodness it’s air-conditioned.

Bicol Express Schedule

Manila to Bicol: 6:30pm at Tutuban Station
Bicol to Manila: 6:30pm at Naga Station

It will take about 12 hours to reach your destination. Though at some situations, it takes shorter or longer. You can buy a ticket from the main station of the trip at Tutuban Center in Manila. Tutuban is in Divisoria.

Bicol Express Fares 2012

Reclining seats            P548.00
Sleeper train                P950    (P665:00 for the promo)
Executive sleepers       P1,425 (P997.50 for the promo)

Fares and prices may change from time to time. No worries, I’ll try to go here to update this post whenever the price changes.

Since the official website of PNR is not yet available, you can book in advance and have your reservations via phone at +63.2.319.0041 ext. 122. I will post the website here once it’s live and working.

5 Star Hotel Rates, Prices in the Philippines

How much is a five star hotel accommodation in the Philippines? You’re visiting here and planning to stay in the most beautiful and luxurious hotel? Why not?! It’s not so expensive as checking in to some hotels in Vegas or Tokyo. Find out…

Your few days of stay in Waldorf Astoria could give you the grandest condo unit already here in the Fort or Makati. Don’t freak out. It’s the Philippines plus the magic of exchange rate. Ok forget about the buying a condo because you’re an outsider. lol I’m gonna publish about that topic on my other website. Let’s just talk about hotel accommodation and the amazing prices you’d never know. I have reviewed the current prices for the best hotels accommodation in the country updated at 2012.

Also I’ve listed the top and most luxurious hotels in the country along with their prices. They are from Manila and Cebu. Thank you and enjoy reading.

List of 5 star hotels in the Philippines

The lists of best hotels in the Philippines are listed together with their rates and prices in pesos as dollar and other currencies often fluctuate. The rates are based from regular days or low season. Rates rise a bit especially during Holy Week, Christmas, New Year, Holidays, weekends and summer.

CC BY-ND 2.0 The Cosmopolitan of Las vegas

Makati Shangri-La

Superior Room – P 9, 500 per night
Deluxe Room – P 10, 300 per night
Executive Room – P 11, 340 per night
Deluxe Suite – P 16, 740 per night
Specialty Suite – this suite is intended for special purposes like family travel or business groups who need special accommodations and facilities. Reservation for this suite requires direct booking so you have to contact the hotel.
Presidential Suite – this is their grandest room which is on top floor of the hotel. This is often booked by celebrities, diplomats, executives thus this suite serves the highest level of luxury. You have to contact the exact hotel for room reservation of the presidential suite.

Take note that rates are per room and for one person only. Prices may add a bit let’s say a thousand to few for two person. However, it wouldn’t double the displayed price above. For more info about the beautiful and high class Shangri-la hotel in Makati, go to their official website and book there directly. The Shang rocks! Because it’s along Ayala avenue, across The Manila Peninsula hotel, just an elevator away from Greenbelt, Glorietta, SM Makati, and famous business establishments and offices in the Philippines. I’d rather be still at Shang. :)

By the way, you can also find other Shangri-La hotel in the Philippines like the Edsa Shangri-La. And if you love the azure beaches of the Philippines like Boracay and Cebu, there are Shangri-La Boracay Resort and Spa in Boracay and Mactan Resort and Spa in Cebu City. Rates for accommodations to these resorts are different from that of the hotel because of the different atmosphere, facilities and services.

Manila Hotel

Grand Deluxe – P 7, 150
Superior Deluxe – P 7, 995
Sunrise / Sunset Suite – P 16, 150
MacArthur Suite – P 25, 000

I value heritage and elegance. Manila Hotel is simply one of the best hotels in the country. History will be repeating to say this all the time. This is a Philippine treasure. This domain stands by the bay, overlooking the Manila bay and just along the famous Roxas Boulevard, close to popular Landmarks like Luneta Park (Rizal Park), Manila Ocean Park, SM Mall of Asia, Intramuros, US Embassy and many more.

The Peninsula Manila

Since I’m here to give a glance of the rates for 2012, I’m sharing their Winter Escape special promo which is valid from November 2011 to April 2012. The packages includes cool treats such as daily buffet breakfast, complimentary benefits, one way Mercedez Benz airport transfer (wow!) or champagne and snacks, guided jeepney tour with lunch and dinner. Wow, this is cool!

Superior Garden Room – P 11, 500 per night
Deluxe Room – P 12, 500
Deluxe Garden Room – P 13, 500
Grand Deluxe Room – 14, 000

Also known as Manila Pen (from The Manila Peninsula), this affluent hotel is along the Makati Avenue and Ayala Avenue, next to Shangri-La hotel. Means, it’s also a perfect place to stay when you wanna be close to the famous and elite malls, huge banks, and the capital business district of the Philippines.

Sofitel Philippines Plaza

Superior Room – (2 single beds, city view) P 8, 500 per night
                          - (1 king bed, bay area) P 10, 200 per night

Luxury Room – (2 single beds, city view) P 10, 300
                        - (1 king bed, bay area) P 11, 990
Junior Suite – ( 1 king bed, bay or city view) P 19, 000

This five star hotel is unique for its resort setting. If you wanna be close to theaters, casinos, museums, SM Mall of Asia, and government offices, Sofitel hotel would suit your choice.

Marriott Hotel Manila at Resorts World Manila

I am so looking forward to be here at Resorts World Manila. This is already more than a five-star hotel even before it has been built. Since its opening at October 2009, it has become one of the most glittered butterflies at the heart of Manila, well the whole Philippines I must say. This famous International hotel is just 15 minutes away from the NAIA airport and Bonifacio Global City Taguig, and 15 minutes from the Makati central business district. You have no reason why not to book here coz of it’s name. Marriott hotels are high class and are internationally known from its prestige and leisure. If you wanna relax, shop, dine, enjoy and play, this is THE place to be at Marriott Hotel Resorts World Manila.

Nightly rates ranges from P 8,500 above.

InterContinental Manila

Standard – P 6000 above
Deluxe Room – P 6,300 to P 6, 500
Suites – P 9,000 to P 12,000

InterContinental Manila is also along Ayala Avenue in Makati. It’s good to stay while in business meetings, or simply relax at the richest city of the country close to other famous landmarks.

Pan Pacific Manila

Pan Pacific Manila Hotel is in Malate Manila, just twenty minutes away from the airport, close to lots of cultural highlights of Manila like Rizal Park, Intramuros, National Museum, Manila Hotel, Manila Bay and many more. Dusit Thani

Dusit Thani gives the Thai ambience and culture with a mist of elegance and royalty. This top class hotel is located in Ayala Centre Makati, along Glorietta, Greenbelt and many more social hot spots. Being in the financial capital district, this5 star hotel can accommodate all your splendid needs of comfort and leisure. I love it here as it’s a bit cheaper compared to fellow five star hotels.
