ASEAN Common Visa: Single Visa Requirement for Countries
Do you like this story?
ASEAN countries, we all know are enjoying the pleasure of
visa free or visa exemption. Being a member of the Association of South East
Asian Nations, we no longer have to make an appointment to secure a visa before
visiting a fellow ASEAN country. The tourism board of ASEAN has started to establish
a common visa or single visa for non ASEAN countries since last year and this
visa-free policy is expected to be completed this year 2012.
The ASEAN common visa aims to have a single visa for
countries listed in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations. It means that
the visa holder can travel all the countries of ASEAN using one single visa.
Having the ASEAN single visa is just like the famous Schengen visa which was established
for European countries.
What are the benefits
of the ASEAN single visa? Non ASEAN countries will have the benefits of
saving time and money from securing visa prior to their visits to any ASEAN
country. You can avoid the hassles, and expenses you would meet in obtaining
individual visas for each country. It can attract more tourists to visit as
much as countries under the asean. People around the world can see the
beautiful places in Southeast Asia just using one single visa. It can also increase
employment, jobs and businesses all over the counties of ASEAN team.
Apparently, with the ASEAN single visa, the list of countries
you can travel is below. Updated membersof the Association of Southeast Asian Nations are:
Cambodia
Indonesia
Lao People’s Democratic Republic
Malaysia
Myanmar
Philippines
Singapore
Thailand
Vietnam
While the establishment of the ASEAN single visa is still in
the oven, isn’t it amazing to visit all the counties listed above using just
one visa? I hope the agreement will be polished this year 2012 as expected. As to
what purpose of travel, tourist, business, or study, the common visa may apply
for tour or both or more. While the ministries are carefully baking the cake, I
think this policy is so amazing. Asean visa exemption requirement will boom the
travel economy in the Southeast Asia. Let’s keep our fingers crossed so the rules
will be settled and completed soon.

No, you wont be needing a visa if you are on a visit and tour purpose. Filipinos don't need visa in visiting Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia since they are part of the ASEAN. All you need to show are proofs of funds to support your stay and travel, passport, valid IDs, and return tickets.
